Judge Jack Fleming (Ret.)brings his extensive judicial experience to DDV Law, Ltd. As a lifelong Chicagoan, Judge Fleming (Ret.), has served the community on the Cook County Probate Division, retiring from the bench in 2018 to pursue his passion in private practice where he utilizes his extensive experience in all facets of probate matters, including estate, trust, and guardianship issues. Judge Fleming (Ret.) also focuses his practice on comprehensive estate planning.

Prior to joining DDV Law, Ltd., Judge Fleming (Ret.) worked in the Cook County Circuit Court Probate Division and presided over Adult Guardianship and Decedent’s Estates. He ruled on dispositive motions, conducted contested hearings, will contests, and trust contests. Prior to that, Judge Fleming (Ret.) worked in the Criminal Division, presiding over the felony trial calendar, decided pretrial motions, ruled on constitutional issues, and conducted hundreds of criminal trials, including over 25 jury trials and hundreds of bench trials. Judge John Fleming (Ret.) also spent time in the Municipal Division, and as a City of Chicago Administrative Law Judge, he conducted felony preliminary and bond hearings, presiding over 60+ hearings daily.

Judge John Fleming (Ret.) completed his undergraduate work at Marquette University, Wisconsin, and earned his J.D. from DePaul University College of Law. Most recently, he has completed additional training with the National Judicial College on the topics of: Financial Statements in the Courtroom, Advanced Civil Mediation, and Comprehensive Civil Mediation. During his extensive judicial career, Judge Fleming (Ret.) successfully oversaw both civil and criminal matters. In the Probate Division, his judicial skills were admired by attorneys due to his vast knowledge of the law and pleasant demeanor. Even though he has retired from the bench, Judge Fleming (Ret.) continues his commitment to success by utilizing his knowledge and experience in the private practice of law.
