Shannon Briggs
Shannon K. Briggs is an Associate Attorney with DDV Law, Ltd. She is devoted to the legal practice of elder law, including special needs planning, estate planning, guardianships, probate, and estate administration. She advocates for elders and people with disabilities, helping them voice their concerns so they can be heard.
What Shannon likes best about working at DDV Law, Ltd. is learning from other experienced attorneys who partner and collaborate to give clients the best possible outcomes for their situations. The atmosphere at the firm is both educational and enjoyable, with plenty of opportunities to participate in after-hours events that build better working relationships between colleagues and with clients.
In addition to her passion for elder law at DDV Law, Ltd., Shannon:
- Serves as the legislative liaison to the Chicago Bar Association Probate Law Practice Committee
- Acts as a Guardian ad Litem in Cook County
- Is an accredited attorney with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)
- Serves on the faculty of the National Business Institute
- Is an active member of the Chicago Bar Association, the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, and the South Suburban Estate Planning Council
- Co-authored Chapter Two: The Appointment Process published in IICLE’s Adult Guardianships, Advance Directives, and Mental Health Law 2021 Edition.
A Chicago resident, Shannon enjoys traveling, skiing, spending time with her friends and family, and exploring new restaurants in the city. Even though she’s lived in Chicago her whole life, she has traveled to Kenya, Europe, Mexico, and the Caribbean to learn about other people and parts of the world.
