Heather Voorn, President of the Illinois Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) presented the Legislator of the Year Award to Illinois Senator John Mulroe.  In the last legislative session, Senator Mulroe tackled several complex issues involving the five year financial record look back provisions.

For years, NAELA has fended off efforts by nursing homes to gain direct access to residents’ financial records.  Last year was no different, but Senator Mulroe stepped forward to negotiate an elegant solution with the nursing homes, financial institutions, governmental departments, and  Illinois NAELA.

So, for his leadership, openness and commitment to protecting seniors and people with disabilities, Heather Voorn, president of Illinois NAELA, presented the Legislator of the Year Award to Senator Mulroe on May 3, 2019.
